Hummer was a marque of trucks and sport utility vehicles, originally sold in the year 1992, when AM General started marketing the civilian version of M998 Humvee. In the year 1998, General Motors acquired the brand and sold three different vehicles called Hummer H1 based on Humvee and H3 and H2 models, which were based on civilian and smaller market General Motors platforms. In 2009, Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company, a Chinese manufacturer announced that it would purchase the Hummer brand and also its pending government approvals, but later withdrew its bid.
